What's new

What's new in MasterScope and Liminal

Every release of MasterScope, Liminal and MasterScope Meter, newest first. Liminal checks nothing online, so this is where to see if there's a newer version.

1.1.0

4 November 2026
  • Liminal: three hardware looks, Console, Rack and Vintage, next to Dark and Light. See them.
  • Liminal: a cleaner parameter list in Ableton and other DAWs, with only the settings that change the sound.
  • MasterScope Meter: now on Mac too (beta, macOS 14.2 or later), in the Mac installer.
  • MasterScope: clearer advice when your track's loudest peaks are in the highs.
  • Fixes and improvements.

1.0.3

3 November 2026
  • Liminal: a Snapshot button copies every setting and meter reading, ready to paste anywhere when you want to show how it's set.
  • Liminal: a live stereo width meter, next to Correlation.
  • MasterScope: checks your reference too (clipped peaks, heavy limiting, MP3 copies, wide bass) and shows where your track is ahead.
  • MasterScope: tick the open track and an earlier version in Version history to compare them on every tab.
  • Fixes and improvements.

1.0.2

2 November 2026
  • Open in MasterScope: Liminal's reports and the Meter's measurements open straight in MasterScope in your browser, with no file to save and drop.
  • MasterScope Meter: warns when a song's peaks were cut off by the player, and says how to measure them; names each measurement after the song that played for most of it.
  • MasterScope: shows which reference you're comparing with, with a Remove button.
  • Fixes and improvements.

1.0.1

1 November 2026
  • MasterScope Meter: asks for the song's name when it can't read one from the player.
  • Fixes and improvements. Liminal itself is unchanged.

MasterScope

  • A clear verdict: Release ready, Ready for streaming, Almost ready or Not ready yet, with the three numbers that matter and the next step.
  • Release ready: a platform-by-platform check for Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, SoundCloud and the club, with each issue tagged by the platforms it affects.
  • The full report: loudness over time, true peaks after streaming encoders, density, tone and spectrogram, stereo width and vectorscope, drum hits, where the peaks come from and what the limiter fights. Export it as a PDF or a share card.
  • Compare: set your track against a reference, or open two reports side by side.
  • Liminal suggestions: drop a Liminal report and MasterScope suggests setting changes, with the reason, as a preset to import.
  • Learn: a free guide to mastering for streaming, from loudness and peaks to tone, stereo and delivery.

Liminal, the mastering limiter

  • Windows and Mac: VST3 on Windows; VST3 and Audio Unit on Mac, native on Apple silicon and Intel.
  • Codec-safe ceiling: keeps the peaks listeners get after Opus (YouTube) and Ogg Vorbis (Spotify) under your ceiling, measured on your song with the real encoders.
  • Learn by loudness or density: aim for −14 LUFS, or for a PLR such as 10, and Learn sets the threshold in one listen.
  • Optimise: tries about 30 setups at your target, all equally loud, and ranks them by punch.
  • Punch Guard: a limiter into a clipper, so the drums keep their snap at the same loudness.
  • Mix Doctor: shows which part of the mix makes the peaks the limiter fights, and what to change.
  • Listen through Opus, a reference track at matched loudness, and a release pack that writes Streaming, Club, Apple Music and YouTube masters from one listen.
  • Spectrum, 2D and 3D spectrogram, punch meter, 14 factory presets, A/B, undo and session reports.

MasterScope Meter

  • Measure any song you can hear: a free Windows app that measures whatever Spotify, YouTube, VLC or your browser is playing.
  • A full report for any song: export a measurement and drop it on MasterScope for the same report you'd get from a file. Only numbers are kept, never the audio.
  • Use it as a reference: compare your mix with the songs you're up against.
